Health care

Nearly 65% of the Indian population is living in poverty and half of it in extreme poverty. The poor carry a triple burden the burden of disease, the burden of poverty and the burden of the violation of their human right.

Poor countries carry 90 per cent of the disease burden but they have access to only 10 per cent of the resources that go to health care. The situation is becoming worse day by day and contributes to death of millions of children under 5 , each year due to acute respiratory tract infection, diarrhea and vaccine-preventable diseases. More than 30 percent of these children are malnourished and easily succumb to diseases leading to death. Millions of adults die each year from malaria tuberculosis and maternal deaths.

The medical Technology bring along with it many unfortunate consequences driving up the cost of health care. Super specialists are replacing family based general practitioners. There is manipulation of medical profession into using of expensive.
